Truth or Consequences: Vitamin Water

Vitamin Water

Is it Gluten Free?

___  Yes!
___   No!
___  I’m afraid to find out!

OK, here’s one that’s a great example of things to always check out. I’ll give you some hints from the ingredients label. For example, Glaceau VitaminWater defense contains a bunch of serious and scary sounding ingredients, with the most suspicious being “natural flavors.”  Hmmm. That tells you a lot now doesn’t it?

I believe that Glaceau states on their website that Vitamin Water is GF. Natural flavors are always that mystery ingredient to look for.

  2. Tom says:

Glaceau has one of those annoying all flash web sites and I had a terrible time finding ingredients, much less gluten free status on their site.
    However…
I dropped them an email and got the following response withing 30 minutes of my inquiry. Hat’s off to them for both a quick response and a good answer to my question. Here is their response, in their words:
“thank you for taking the time to contact glacéau®.
all vitaminwater®, smartwater®, and vitaminenergy® products are gluten free. none of our products contain any of the fda designated ‘big eight’ allergens. we hope this allows you to enjoy our products.
if you have any questions or if i can be of further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”

So then I’m gonna vote “YES”. :)

  4. Sandy Moody says:

I called the company to see if it was GF. They reassured me it was. Whenever in doubt, I call to make sure. I have called other companies that have suggested I call maybe twice a year to check on ingredients…as they sometimes change them without warning. So, if you are comfortable with a product, in the future it could change.

  5. Tom says:

Absolutely! The worst offenders for changing ingredients are generic medications. They get new batches of ingredients all the time from different suppliers!
